This document is provided by the <strong>product manufacturer<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Packaging tested for a <strong>higher group<\/strong> can carry <strong>lower groups<\/strong> too. So your choice of packaging supplier is important.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What to look for:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A manufacturer experienced in UN-certified packaging.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>One who can make your packaging exactly to UN specifications.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ideally an ISO-certified manufacturer (this gives you longer certificate validity \u2014 18 months instead of 9).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>One who will list your name (exporter) correctly on the certificate.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Two ways this works:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Buy ready UN-certified packaging<\/strong> from a manufacturer who already has a valid certificate covering your product, weight, and mode \u2014 the simplest route.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Get new packaging certified<\/strong> \u2014 if your product\/packaging is unique, the manufacturer prepares a prototype and gets it tested for you.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Always verify the manufacturer&#8217;s valid UN IIP certificate and check that it matches your product, packing group, weight, and transport mode.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Step_3_Prepare_the_Packaging_Prototype_to_UN_Specifications\"><\/span><strong>Step 3: Prepare the Packaging Prototype to UN Specifications<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once the manufacturer is chosen, they <strong>prepare a prototype (sample) package<\/strong> built <strong>strictly to UN specifications<\/strong> for your product.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This means the packaging must have the correct:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Material and thickness<\/strong> (steel gauge, plastic grade, fibreboard strength)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Design and dimensions<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Closures and seals<\/strong> (very important for liquids)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Inner packaging and cushioning<\/strong>, if needed<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Capacity and weight<\/strong> matching your shipment<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The sample must be strong enough to pass the tests.
