- A list including information of raw materials used & a copy of Test Certificates of raw materials;
- Submit the product/component drawing (if applicable);
- Layout plan indicating the location of considerable manufacturing machinery or lab;
- Detailed flow-chart process comprising all the manufacturing process, information regarding in-process control of each stage comprising outsourced stages;
- Location plan of a factory from nearby airport, railway, or landmark & guidance regarding how to reach the BIS Office;
- Undertaking/Declaration will be provided by us;
- Bank statement of the business.
Important Note:
- Incorporation documents will depend on the business type:
- Companies: CoI (Certificate of Incorporation), MoA, AoA;
- LLPs & Partnership Firms: Certificate of Incorporation & Partnership Firms (if applicable);
- Sole Proprietorship you can submit the Incorporation Certificate from the Directorate of Industries/Certificates from Industry Center & MSME Certificate (if applicable).
- Consent Letter from BIS certified labs – It’s required where the applicant doesn’t have in-house testing facilities.
- In case, the manufacturing has been outsourced then an Outsourced Manufacturing Agreement must be submitted.
Procedure for ISI Certification in India
Following is the step by step procedure for ISI Certification in India:
- Step 1: Select the relevant product code: The first step in ISI Certification process is to select the relevant product code that complies with all the BIS guidelines.
- Step 2: File the application form: Once you select the relevant product code, then our experts will help you to file an application for ISI Certification and submit all the vital documents. Moreover, the applicant must pay audit & registration fees for further inspection.
- Step 3: Factory Audit by BIS Certified Auditor: Once we file the application for ISI and submit the documents, then the BIS-certified auditor and the inspection team will visit the factory premise of the applicant& examine the quality control and the overall manufacturing process. The BIS Officer will collect some products as samples & send the same for testing in a BIS-certified lab.
- Step 4: Submit the Product Sample Report: After that, you need to collect the sample report of the product from a BIS certified lab and submit it to the BIS, then they will review the sample.
- Step 5: Issuance of ISI Certificate: Once all the above steps are completed successfully, then BIS will issue the ISI Certificate.
Validity and Renewal of ISI Certification in India
The ISI Certification in India shall initially grant for not less than 1 year and up to 2 years. For extension of ISI License, application with required fees and documents under the existing License may be submitted. ISI License may be renewed up to 5 years by paying renewal fees & marking fees along with few documents.
Primary reasons behind the rejection of ISI Application
Following are the main reasons behind the rejection of ISI Application:
- In case of failure on the manufacturer part to help the visiting official during the factory visit;
- In case of non-conformity in factory testing of the sample product during the 2nd visit;
- If there is not enough or lack of facilities for testing;
- If the firm hasn’t cleared financial dues of the BIS;
- If there is any major deviation in the manufacturing facility from the declared facility;
- If the product samples drawn for testing fail the test;
- If the firm or the applicant indulges in some unethical practices;
- If there are not enough technical personnel with the manufacturer;
- If there aren’t enough technical personnel with the product manufacturer;
- If the firm has not submitted proper documents/has submitted incomplete documents;
- After submission of application where the samples aren’t submitted for testing.
