6) Approval and Issuance: After a satisfactory review, the DGFT provides the importer with the import license as well as the conditions and the time limit for the license.
7) The MoEF&CC grants authorization: in the form of an electronic import license to any person or entity applying for importation of old or used electronic items which falls under the category of hazardous as framed under the Hazardous Waste Management Rules. Before they are imported these electronics need to be inspected and they need to get clearance from the customs.
8) EPR Certificate/Authorisation: Under the E-waste Management Rules, it is mandatory for importers of electronic products to comply with Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) obligations. Importers must obtain an EPR certificate from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) in order to sell EEE items in India. This can be achieved by either participating in a take-back system or establishing collection centers for e-waste disposal. Importers are required to submit a detailed Extended Producer Responsibility plan to the CPCB when applying for the EPR certificate.
